Player Profile - Adam Buegler

This really isn't giving up any ancient Chinese secret, as Adam was mentioned in the People's Press article last week, and just about everybody at the rink last Sunday was aware he had made the team. So here we go...

Adam Buegler - 6'0"/180lbs - Goalie

1988 Birth year. Native of New Ulm, Minnesota, where he was a 3 year player and 2007 graduate of New Ulm High school. Had a 2.52 goals against average, and a 0.911 save % his senior year. He was an alternate on the 2007 Section 1 Ted Brill Great 8 roster. Spent the first half of the 2007/08 season with the Hudson Crusaders of the MJHL. He led the MJHL with a 8-4 record, 1.98 GAA and a 0.942 save%. He was named MJHL goalie of the month for January 2008. His performance with Hudson earned him a promotion to the Fargo-Moorhead Jets of the NAHL in early February 2008. It didn't take long for him to adjust to the NAHL, as he had a phenomenal weekend against the Bismarck Bobcats February 14-16. He won 3 games against the Bobcats that weekend with 2 shutouts, and stopped 82 out of 83 shots he faced. That earned him the NAHL Central Division Player of the Week Honor. He finished the season with the Jets, with a 7-2-1-3 record, 2.42 GAA, and 0.911 save %. He had 3 appearances against the Express last year. On February 22nd, he gave up goals to Robby Spalding, Ben Danford, and Kyle Olson in the first period and was pulled, on March 11th, he gave up the game winning goal to CJ Willms 32 seconds into overtime, and on March 28, he shutout the Express in a game the Jets won 8-0.

My take: I'm not sure, but I think this was one of our tendered players. Had good numbers with the Jets last year on a fairly bad team, although the sample size was limited. I really like him for one important reason: He wants to play here and he wants to play for Coach Cullen. I talked with him last Saturday at tryout camp, and he was really excited about the chance to play in Owatonna this fall. He had a huge smile on his face, was outgoing, and seemed like a very well-mannered kid. At this point I would pencil him in as our starting goalie going into the showcase in September.

Welcome to Owatonna Adam Buegler, see you in September.

BK, I spoke with him also, he is glad he made a team and did not care where he played. He wanted USHL.

He is nice and hopes things work out here.

BK:

1. Thank you for your hard work and dedication.

2. When will the roster be posted?

3. We are concerned and wonder if the teams financial backing will be covered for the entire year? We are in the decision mode to purchase tickets but do not feel secure enough about the ownership entity.

Thanks,

Randi

BK,

Do not feel that you need to update this blog daily. I am sure your family needs your attention also. Keep up the good work.

Thanks!

Anonymous #1 - They all want USHL, but Adam was at a disadvantage beacause USHL teams can only carry 4-1988 birth years, and those are usually reserved for their returning players. I didn't put this is the profile, Adam attended the Fargo Force tryout camp.

Anonymous #2 - Your welcome, thanks for reading. Tell everybody that you know to get there Express news here. As far as when the roster will be posted, I wouldn't expect it until after the team reports for training camp in September. As for your last question, I am not privy to everything going on within the organization. I find it hard to believe that there would be anything to worry about this early in the process. If things were that dire, I think the plug would have been pulled long before tryout camp was held. Again, I am not privy to all information concerning the Express, but I would think the NAHL officials would not have let us draft players, or hold a camp without knowing that we would for sure field a team for the entire season. So, my advice for you would be to buy your tickets now, and reserve the best seats available. Then tell your friends and neighbors to go get their tickets. The ultimate fate of this franchise will lie in the ability to sell tickets. Envision this: Its October 3, 2008. The 4 Seasons is packed with fans. The lights go off, you stand up in your seats, "Crazy Train" starts to blare from the speakers. Then you hear the voice of the Express Pete Kalan over the soundsystem "On your feet Express fans, and welcome to the ice, YOUR OWATONNA EXPRESS!!." Through the gate comes our team in their brand new uniforms ready to kick 6 kinds of dog crap out of the Alexandria Blizzard on opening night. I can't wait, don't you want to be there?

So is the train still at the rink or did we borrow another one? Choo Choo

I still have yet to receive the promissed expense summary for the team. Anyone know who's in charge and when we can expect to receive it?

Where is all this bad press about the income for Express coming from. I'm one of the donors for the Express and I've heard all is good on the home front. Please Randi, don't hold back about buying your tickets. It will be a great season to be a OWATONNA EXPRESS fan!!

The train is right where it has always been. It will need to be repainted with the new logo and color scheme, but I'm sure it will be ready for opening night.

Hey are we seeded for the playoffs or do we have to win a certain number of games?

I believe we are in the Central Division playoffs already due to last 2 years performance.
