Brandon Brodhag traded to North Iowa Outlaws

Found something I hadn't previously heard: The Motor City Machine traded former Express forward Brandon Brodhag to the North Iowa Outlaws for defenseman Reed Rushing.

My take: This trade is pretty fair for both teams. North Iowa gets some scoring punch, and the Machine get a solid offensive-minded defenseman. I am happy that Brandon gets to play closer to home, but it will be odd to see him in an Outlaws sweater this winter.

I see Brodhag as being able to make the next step to the USHL. I don't think we will see him in the evil green and black.

He went to a couple of USHL camps, but isn't currently on any team's protected list.

Brandon has terrific talent. There is an "effort" rap on him though. You need to bring in every day in the USHL. Like the old book said " talent, hard work, and perseverance" are the necessary factors and of the 3, talent is the least important.

I think he is going to have a tough time in NI without any vets, or D.

I was just looking on the North Iowa site reading about returning player for last year. I didn't see Dustin Skinners name on the list. Did they let him go or did he age out??

Dustin Skinner was an '87, so he aged out.

Brandon needs to work on being more of a team player both on and off the ice.
