Jake Sloat - 5'11"/176lbs - Defensemen
'90 birth year out of Superior, Colorado. After playing for the Colorado Thunderbirds Midget Major program, he was drafted by the Omaha Lancers in the 3rd round of the 2007 USHL Entry Draft. He spent the entire 2007/08 season on the Lancer's roster, scoring 1 goal and 2 assists while playing in 29 games. He did not see any action in the Lancer's playoff run to the USHL Championship.
My take: Could be a solid blue-liner for the Express. Yeah he didn't play much in Omaha last year, but he spent the entire year on the roster, so he must have some skills. He attended the Green Bay Gamblers main tryout camp a few weeks ago, but is not on their most recent protected list. A year with the Express getting 20 minutes a game is just what he needs to get back on a USHL roster.

No dis on the players but seems like Pat is lining up a pretty small, light team. Seems like Cedar Rapids and Des Moines tried that strategy last year and from the look of their rosters, abandoned the approach.
Yeah agree. Whats on Pats mind? Maybe cause he used to work with the kiddies he has changed.
I think it's a tad bit early to be worrying about the size of the team. What are the chances that even half of the draft picks ever play for the Express??
2005 Draft - 2 out of 5 picks played extensively - CJ Willms & Josh Carlson, 2 other picks never played for the Express, and the other pick was JP Perpich.
2006 1 out of 5 - Jesse Downey was the only pick that played extensively. Blake Bashor played some before going back to his previous team. The other 3 never played for the Express.
Point being: Let's at least wait until tryout camp before we get worried.
BK is right. The odds are very few of Pats draft picks will end up playing for the Express. No use speculating.
Pat knows what he's doing, the team he made up last year was his best team yet, I heard around. It will be interesting to see who he ends up having for the team.

what do u mean they do not want 2 come here? do they have another team they can play on? i thought if u get drafted u are on the team and have to come here.
What I mean is they do not want to play for our team. They will not show up at the tryout from what I hear from the grapevine.
