A nice win for the Express Saturday night. Stephen Carew scored the only goal of the game early in the first period, and a strong team-wide defensive effort in front of goalie Adam Buegler shutout the Bobcats the entire night. With the win, the Express closed some ground on the 3rd place Bobcats, and first place Alexandria Blizzard who lost to North Iowa. The Express are in 4th place in the division, 3 points behind Bismarck and 7 points behind co-leaders Alexandria and North Iowa, who have all played more games than the Express. The guys have rebounded from the 0-3 start at the Showcase by winning 4 out of their last 7 games.
Next up for the Express is a home game versus the North Iowa Outlaws this coming Saturday night. The Express have split a pair of games this season with the Outlaws in Mason City. Bring your buckets/airhorns/cowbells, and be ready to make some noise.
Today's NAHL Predictions: (I was 6-2 Saturday/63-30 for the season)
St Louis over Springfield
Topeka over Wenatchee
See you at the rink.

Good win!! Can't keep relying on Buegler to win. He needs some offensive help! Might be time to see if some of the healthy scratches could make a difference. Fahnhorst hasn't played a game yet.
What happened with the attendance? I realize Bismarck won't have many fans following them, but the game last week drew more and there was the homecoming dance to deal with.

MEA weekend. If you think that is bad if the OHS football team wins Tuesday they play Saturday. Everyone needs to grab a friend that has not come to a game and bring them Saturday so the Iowegians don't outnumber us. Once football season is over attendance will pick up. It's like this every year.
Any truth to the rumor of the Hansen Brothers making a reappearance?

"Any truth to the rumor of the Hansen Brothers making a reappearance?"
- This is the first I have heard of that. I would love to have them back in Owatonna, but Viracon or another corporate sponsor would probably have to foot the bill.

Memo to the anonymous poster with the fascination for the Express schedule magnets: You can stop posting now. I rejected all of your idiotic comments, and will continue to do so. You can be as big a jackass as you want to be on glassrattler.com, but I won't allow it on my blog.

BK:
What about Viracons annual game night? Cant they play against or with them before the game?
It would be a real treat if they came.
What are the early predictions for next weekend. Can we keep up our winning streak?
PS Hanson Brothers will pack the house.
Great news!!! A win and the Hanson Brothers. What night are they coming? Can we buy advanced tix?
Everybody needs to calm down with the Hanson Brothers talk. I haven't heard anything about this from anyone within the organization. This is only a rumor, please take it with a grain of salt.

The Bandits and Topeka are hot. They are dominating.
Wonder how we would match up against them. Sure is boring playing the same teams over and over again.
OHS football is also great fun to attend while the weather permits.

- I know, it sounds cliched, all 58 games on the schedule are big games, the next game is the biggest game, one game at a time, etc..., but this Saturday's game with North Iowa is huge. Both teams are coming off wins, and the Outlaws are coming in tied for 1st place. If the Express can continue putting it together, play a great game, and beat the Outlaws, they will have a 2 game win streak going into the following weekend's home and home series with Albert Lea. It's an opportunity for the Express to string together a nice win streak, and get above .500.
I like our chances. We have a hot goalie, a much improved defense, and North Iowa has to play Friday night, whereas the Express do not.

- I knew Topeka would be good, but I am surprised how good St Louis looks so far. Granted 4 of their wins are against Motor City (Insert your own favorite cheapshot). The Express won't play Topeka this season until the Robertson Cup (If both teams qualify), but they have 4 games in December against St Louis, so you will get a chance to see how we stack up against the elite teams in the NAHL.
I guess from a certain point of view the schedule is boring, but it's also makes every game that much more important. You are playing the teams that you need to catch, or stay ahead of.

I know 2 of the scratches can put up points, Dane Erickson is 3rd on the team in goals but has sat out 3 or 4 games and Alex Niestrom has 5 points and has been a scratch the last 4 games.
Anonymous:
Agree with you on Niestrom and Ericson and Daley hasn't played in almost a month.
One of them might get a chance this weekend as I heard 1 defenseman and 1 forward left the team. Or, it might have been 1 of these guys that left because they weren't playing.

- What you heard was not true. No changes to the roster have been made this week (I confirmed this with members of the team).
With 25 guys on the roster, and only 20 guys dressing for each game, there is going to be 5 guys who don't get to play. Yes it sucks for them, but they can either mope about it, or use it as motivation. Coach Cullen knows what he is doing, and we have no reason to doubt his methods.

Coaches do continually get high marks from the team. Listened to the Coach's Show and each of the players talked of how much they liked them. Cullen addressed the issue of not playing, but he said that in November there is going to be opportunities for everyone to play as there id 1 week with 3 games an another with 4. This is when those not playing need to prove themselves. That's why there is 25 guys on a team.

FYI on the Viracon night....to settle the rumors once and for all, the Viracon night with the Express is on January 31st. Viracon will have something like they had last year with the "Floor" people vs the "Office" people game. I have it straight from the source!
