Express Player Profile - Joe Beaudette

Joe Beaudette - Forward - 6'2"/185lbs - Forward

1988 birth year from Blaine, Minnesota who will wear jersey #10 with the Express this season. Was high school teammates with fellow current Express player Nick Carson, and former Express player Danny Sinn. Joe was listed on the NHL's Central Scouting Players to Watch List in 2007. In 2006/07, he played 18 games including playoffs with the Omaha Lancers in the USHL. He then spent the early part of 2007/08 with the Indiana Ice in the USHL, before landing with the Fargo-Moorhead Jets of the NAHL. In 34 games with the Jets last season he score 8 goals and 8 assists, including 5 power play goals. Joe found his way to the Express for his last season of junior hockey, after Fargo-Moorhead went dormant for this season.

My take: There was a rumor going around last season that the FM Jets might relocate to Owatonna. Well as we know, that didn't happen, but the Express did pick up a couple of former Jet players in Beaudette and goalie Adam Buegler. Both should play big roles with the Express this season. Joe is a tall forward, with a some experience in both the USHL and NAHL. His experience should pay dividends given the amount of NAHL rookies on the team. I can't wait to see him and the rest of the guys on the ice tomorrow night at the 4 Seasons Centre.

Welcome to Owatonna Joe Beaudette.

- I don't have any inside information, but I would think it's a strong possibility. By my count, there are 6 Express Draft picks currently on USHL rosters. If any of those guys were cut, this would be a logical next stop for them, as I believe their rights remain with the Express. Coach Cullen has brought in some very good players from the USHL in the past (Hopper, Bickel, Beaudoin, Kozlak, etc...), and it wouldn't surprise me if he did the same this season.
