Game #2 of 58 is today vs. the USNTDP U17 team. Face-off is 4:15 at the SuperRink in Blaine.
This will be another tough test for the Express. The U17 team beat Bismarck 5-1 yesterday, scoring 4 goals in the 1st period, and never looking back. The Express absolutely must start strong today. If they come out slow and unorganized they will quickly find themselves behind a couple of goals. This is a winnable game for the Express, but they will have to play like they did the second half of the first period yesterday, for all 60 minutes.
What I hope to see from the Express today:
- A vast improvement in defensive zone puck possession. Too many turnovers in our zone yesterday, and too much trouble clearing the zone.
- A more organized offensive attack. The 4 goals scored yesterday were mostly due to great individual effort. Move the puck up the ice, gain the offensive zone, and look for an opportunity. This should lead to more shots on goal, and hopefully more goals.
- Cut down the penalties. I'm beginning to sound like a broken record here.

I look for this game to go down to the wire, maybe even an overtime or shootout situation.

omg, those young usntdp guys are good. they killed us.

We are not happy with the teams performance at the Showcase.
